According to Maiuri, this house with its front façade preserved up to the second storey, and the portal, windows and small lights which break it at various heights, offers one of the most complete examples of a private house façade at either Pompeii or Herculaneum. This clearly patrician house originally extended across the entire insula, but later some of the rooms were detached and became humble dwellings and shops for artisan workers.
